5 Signs Your Business Website Needs an Upgrade

An underperforming website rarely announces itself. It just quietly produces fewer enquiries than it should. Here are the five signs worth checking today.

1. It's awkward to use on a phone

Open your site on your own phone. If you have to pinch to read text, if buttons are too small to tap confidently, or if a menu covers the content and won't close, that's the majority of your visitors' experience — most local searches happen on mobile. This alone is usually enough reason to rebuild.

2. It takes more than a few seconds to load

Large uncompressed images are the usual culprit, followed by heavy page builders and unnecessary scripts. On mobile data, a slow site loses people before they see anything. Compressing images and removing dead weight is often the single cheapest improvement available.

3. The information is out of date

Old prices, a discontinued service, last year's hours, a phone number you no longer use, or a copyright notice from several years ago. Visitors read staleness as a signal that the business itself may not be active — and they're not always wrong to.

4. It doesn't say what you do or where you do it

Plenty of sites open with a slogan and never state the service or the area plainly. If a stranger can't tell within five seconds what you sell and whether you cover their town, neither can Google. Fixing the headline, page titles and a clear service-area statement often improves both conversion and visibility at once.

5. Contacting you takes effort

A contact page hidden behind two clicks, a form that doesn't send anywhere reliable, no WhatsApp option, or a phone number that isn't tappable. Every extra step loses people. WhatsApp, click-to-call and a short form should be available from any page.

What to fix first

  • Make contact instant: WhatsApp button, tappable number, working form.
  • Compress every image and remove anything unused.
  • Rewrite the home page headline to state your service and area.
  • Update prices, hours, services and the year in the footer.
  • Give every page a unique title and description.

If three or more of the five signs apply, a rebuild is usually more economical than patching. We can keep your domain and set up redirects so nothing you've earned in search is lost — see our website design service.

Frequently asked

Can you rebuild my website without losing my Google rankings?

Yes. We keep your domain, carry across the content worth keeping, and set up redirects from old URLs to the new ones so existing visibility isn't lost.

Is it cheaper to fix my existing site or start again?

It depends on the platform and how it was built. If the foundations are sound, targeted fixes are cheaper. If it's slow, unmaintainable or unresponsive on mobile, a fresh build usually costs less than repeatedly patching it.
